Welcome!

I’m an ecosystem ecologist and postdoctoral associate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University.

My research centers around reshaping our understanding of how plants influence our Earth’s climate through the carbon and nitrogen cycles. To do this, I combine principles and tools from ecosystem ecology, plant ecophysiology, and atmospheric science. I’m also interested in integrating field data with modeling tools, addressing difficulties in scaling leaf processes to the global level, understanding how students learn in science courses, and improving access and equity in our science classrooms and university campuses.

To read more about my specific research projects, please see my Research page. You can also find my tweets on the latest in scientific discoveries, STEM equity issues, and science communication at @susanjcheng.
